Description

This very numerous genus includes more than a thousand species, divided into three groups: rhizomatous, tuberous and fibrous.

TEMPERATURE: In summer, the optimal temperature is 18 - 20 degrees; in winter, tuberous begonia has a dormant period. After flowering, the tuber is dug up and stored in a cool (14 - 16 degrees) place until the next season.

LIGHTING: Begonia is quite shade-tolerant, but flowering forms prefer bright diffused light or light partial shade.

WATERING: During flowering, abundant, the soil should always be slightly moist.

AIR HUMIDITY: Requires sufficiently high air humidity.

TRANSPLANTING: In the spring, the tuber is transplanted with the concave side up, without deepening it too much.

REPRODUCTION: Tuberous begonia is propagated by seeds, dividing the tuber or cuttings.
